TROVES of TIME... Treasures vaulted within this heart

TROVES of TIME...

Moments of being, the troves of time
In reflection, thoughts as words line by line
Treasures vaulted within this heart
From which reverie has its start
Garlands of thought ever free
Gifts of life bequeathed onto me
Now and memories of days old
Mark this time, stories yet to be told
What pray tell am I to understand
The God within holds loving command
This moment born ever anew
Troves of time betrothed onto each of you
This moment to BE, and lovingly to share
Known be our hearts. and God's tender care.

This Hour of Sunset

No earrings, bracelets, necklaces or rings need she bear
Yet fully adorned and crowned in God’s loving care
Free of shackles and constraint of body and soul
Within all treasures and a found goal
She honors life in all its glory
Each moment now a complete story
And when she records with pen a line
Awakened and felt is the sublime
Who pray tell is she
She is the I introduced to the me
And in this moment of quiet reflection
She sees all of nature in full perfection
The warmth of the summer setting sun her hand does feel
And what is so distant is now and real
No greater or lesser can this Presence be
The I known here, now, in this moment to me
The deep breath of Being in great abound
In this hour of sunset the I has found.

This Poet's Treasure

This poet's pen with plea in heart
From which words have their start
A tree, a blossom, a water's flow
These the gifts of grace the poet does know
The music, the wind, a songbird heard
The poet so touched and offers a word
The spirits of song, of dance, of music, of art
From the poet's pen ne'er shall they depart
The muse of all to entreat her pleasure
Words of musing, this poet's treasure.

Appraise Well

Appraise well this treasure of time
The endowment of days made mine
Pearls of wisdom shall there be
Golden moments of alchemy
Gems of gratitude a collection fair
Blessings priceless coins of care
Appraise well this treasure of time
Measures weighed upon a life line.

Woman Holding a Balance, Oil on canvas, 1662-63, Johannes Vermeer, 1632-1675,
National Gallery of Art, Washington

The painting, "Woman Holding a Balance," in its intent, its metaphor, its portrayal, in its entirety, holds deep significance for me. All that is symbolized, in her expression, in her stance, in her very state of anticipated birth, in a balance scale empty of content, the light she is bathed in, every element, every detail, every artifact shown, the subject content of the painting on the wall behind her, all resounding and heard is the voice of CHOICE itself. CHOICE - BALANCE - CHOICE - BALANCE...

Vermeer has a way of bringing concept, metaphor, beauty and light to all his considerations that become ours to know. There is such depth of spirit and intention in his artistry. This particular work reminding us of the "balance" called for between the material and spiritual values, to reflect on what we chose to "weigh." And so my poetic response, "Appraise Well."

Troves of Time

Mood, these moments of being the troves of time
In reflection, thoughts as words line by line
Treasures vaulted within this heart
From which reverie has its start
Garlands of thought ever free
Gifts of life bequeathed to me
Now and memories of old
Mark this time yet to be told
What pray tell am I to understand
The God within holds loving command
And so this moment born ever new
Troves of time betrothed to you
This moment to reach and willingly share
And known be your heart and loving care.
