The Sounding Light ~ Union Arts Center, Sparkill, New York

The Sounding Light ~ Union Arts Center, Sparkill, New York

Upon entry a sigh into a space
that speaks an enfolding embrace
Greeted by tidings of palette and word
that call to be seen, to be heard

This Sounding Light conceived
form, line, in splendor, in flow perceived
Hues, tones, gentle, passionate, stark
light held, light free, shadows of grace echo the dark
The poet, the artist, BE she in presence known
'tis the Sounding Light within heart, upon walls be shown.

... and I at the bench...

... and I at the bench...

I at the bench
Touched by The Sounding Light
Colors before me in choral splendor
Brilliant, lyrical, motion in stillness sublime

Heard is the music
Felt is the dance
The beckoning Muse in surrender sweet.

The Artist's Statement Poetically Presented

Is it

Is it brush in hand and thought in heart
From which this painting has its start
Where comes this call I hear as mine
Word, color and form these gifts of time
Is it the Muse that summons the soul
Beauty be the quest, beauty be the goal
And when in completion a work is to be
Is it the Muse I hear in joyful reverie
Is it Truth that anoints each new day
With the knowing path of the spirit's way
Ever present this reach to do and create
Welcome I Truth, the Muse, Destiny and Fate
God be known in what I receive and give
This be the decree for each moment I live
Is it when faith and knowing jointly resound
That God and the Muse so freely are found
So be it brush or pen in heart, mind or hand
It is to be in the Creator's fullest command.

September Morn

Summer's soft and warm blush yet present
Hues of the season to come

Heard in whispers new.

The I to Place

Heed I the many calls to awakening
The distant visions held newly clear
The focus in light newly defined
The pulsing heart in spirit known
The inner sounding of love divine
The calls, the calls, in silence's splendor
To these my will, my will surrender
Deep within this moment's grace
All TIME, all PRESENCE, within SELF, the I to place.

Ardent Command

listen to the music of the night
daughter child of the MUSES
creation's plea heard within heart

this breath of life such blessings divine
and so my purpose beholds this gift of time
the hand with brush and pen in art and word
this the calling calling in PRESENCE heard
the song of the many winds shall you abide anew
threads of SPIRIT weave a cloak of grace onto you
expressions and marks,  the voice of the hand
unto CREATION be SPIRIT'S ardent command

listen to the music of the night
daughter child of the MUSES
creation's plea heard within heart.

Encounters of Expression...

...encounters of expression...

At one time the word 'art' referred to 'being.' As it may have been asked, "Who art thou?" (archaic 2nd person singular present of be). I see each life as a palette of possibilities, of potentialities, of pas
sion, of power, to be held in awe, in reverence, in celebration, in fulfillment. The artist holds true to these expressions, and so brings these ever present quests to each artful encounter, be it painting, poetry, sculpture, architecture, literature, dance, drama, theater... staging, exhibiting, sharing, purpose fulfilled. With each experience, each perception, our senses engaged, our feeling and knowing defined, our spirit touched. Rose Marie Raccioppi

"The work of art must seize upon you, wrap you up in itself and carry you away. It is the means by which the artist conveys his passion. It is the current which he puts forth, which sweeps you along in his passion. The pain passes, the beauty remains." Pierre-Auguste Renoir
