Spoils of Spring

Libation ever sweet

The quiver of new grass below my feet

To Riverside Park, Dad and I did go

For the picking wild in sun’s warm glow

The scent of green, budding golden light

Yellow flowers, such an alchemic delight

Gathered many and held in hand with love

Mother Earth thanked as too, God above

Be these to be my very first bouquet

I with Dad gifted to Mom on Mother’s day.

Blooms of beauty and colors of grace

Within the joy of heart I do place

A Birthday bouquet gifted to me

The splendor of creation fills heart’s glee

And so my gratitude in expression be known

For the generosity of heart you each have shown.
