Held within the deep darkness
Cast of black stroked by magenta
Touched by the warm and wet air
The breadth of silence in hushed refrain
Suspended in the eternal womb of time
This night that knows no sleep
Within the black shadows of the trees
Below the darkened magenta sky
Grass wet cool green new below my feet
The feel of the warm whispering stillness
This night that knows no sleep.

"Within the black shadows of the trees

I've read this several times, Rose Marie, and each time I feel the senses pulled by the touch and sound and feel of this. "This night that knows no sleep" is not a thing to fight against, but rather an experience to be embraced, with its warm, wet, hushed, newness. Wonderful!
"Grass wet cool green new below my feet" is a really splendid line. The visual is a good as ever. Well done.
Very nicely done, & I love the illustration.
ah that's very lovely, and does give the feeling of a sleepless night... surrendered to.... "suspended in the eternal womb of time..." What a very beautiful sentence.
Wonderful to see your paintings here too.
I love how you use words as colors to paint. Thank you for stopping by and offering such kind words and encouragement. I feel privilege at having come across your work. My day is made richer for it.
Karen, Yes, it was a night to be embraced.
Dave, I can still feel the tickle of the grass.
John, particularly pleased that you "love" the painting.
Rene, Each time I surrender to the the night awakened is the muse.
Rainbow, And so too, my day is bought to delight by your offerings as well.
Thank you to all. You are each deeply appreciated.
