Sweet Surrender ~ and so I DREAM...

…and so I DREAM…

    in silence words be known,

        in darkness light be known,

in a state of submission vision be known,

                time bears no beginning,

no end, it just IS - Inspired Spirit.

and so the DREAM and so

                                                the Deliverance,

                                                    the Revelations,

                                                        the Eternal,

                                                              the Awareness,

                                                                the Manifest ...

                                                                        A telling, a beckoning...

What is Tanka? ... and I in response...

What is Tanka?
Tanka is a poetry form which originated in Japan more than 13 centuries ago. In its purest form, tanka poems are most commonly written as expressions of gratitude, love, or self-reflection. Suitors would send a tanka to a woman the day after a date, and she would reply in kind. These were short messages (like secret letters) expressing love, desire, meaning, or gratitude. These poems often culminated in a transcendental message.
Tanka poems do not rhyme, and they are written in short lines, like haiku. In fact, tanka poems in English generally adhere to a syllabic count. There are five syllables (onji) in the first line, seven in the second, five in the third, and seven in lines four and five (5/7/5/7/7).
Because tanka poems are meant to be given to someone, they are written from the viewpoint of the poet. That does not mean they must be written in the first person, but the poet is ever-present, always writing to express personal feelings about the subject. Tanka poems are usually one long sentence broken purposefully between all five lines.

Tanka Recipe:

Start with two lines addressing the experience of the poet, what they saw, heard, felt, tasted, smelled etc.

Add a third line (called the turn or pivot) which changes the tone of the poem. It should relate separately to the two lines above and below.

Finish with two lines which express a profound transcendental meaning that prompts reflection.

And so in respectful regard of intent and form, my offering:

Your heart is yet heard (5)
Feel I its resounding plea (7)
This a pulsing grace (5)
Remembered be your lament (7)
Savored be each breath we share. (7)

LUKA SULIC - Kol Nidrei ~ SOUNDING STRINGS

Sounding strings
a feeling
a knowing
a questioning
a longing
an inner drive awakened
a responsive breath
an unrelenting inner source
TRUTH reaches beyond thought
to the deeper chambers of heart
to the soaring known within the Spirit of SOUL
the confront, the resolve
the awakened melody of BEING...
this to listen, this to feel, this to BE.

S I L E N C E

S I L E N C E …
be this the ambient music
the sweet feel of the pulsing heart
the whispers of the wind
the gentle rustle of the leaves
the lilt of the songbird song
a stillness filled with nature
speak I no word
the counsel of THE WORD
is in the quietude of BEING.

My DAD... remembered... Fathers Day ~ 2021.

A Golden Gloves Boxing Champion, A Ballroom Dancer, A Champion Billiards Player, A Sharp Poker Player... He demanded performance and expected excellence…

He was selected to train Jackie Gleason in perfecting the 'Bank -Shot' scene in the motion picture, "The Hustler." A bank shot is when you hit the cue ball into an object ball, which then hits off a rail and goes into the pocket.

Yes, the Bank-Shot is metaphoric for the game of life we all are destined to play in our own way. The line in the clip... 'as if he is playing a violin' ... a skill set that calls to nuance bold, delicate, determined, focused, one move orchestrated to the next. And so too, the call of The Way, thought by thought, vision by vision, intent by intent, purpose by purpose.

And so this first born daughter learned to dance, to master foot work, to become the 'Double-Dutch' jump rope champion of West 100 Street in Manhattan, back in the day, to sharpen and maintain focus, instructed to 'play my cards right' and to learn how to win, how to lose, how to maintain a steady course no matter what comes your way.

Well DAD... we did it! I have been named A WOMAN OF DISTINCTION 2021, Honored by the State of New York, May 14, 2021 by Formal PROCLAMATION, initiated by Assemblyman Michael V. Lawler.

Yes, Dad, performance, excellence, passion, purpose, power to BE, a dreamer, a visionary, a doer.

B E Y O N D

B E Y O N D

ridden with darkness and the wake of pain
the clutches of shadows and the inane
'tis not life that looms, bows and seeks to hide
but the illusions and hurts held deep inside
beyond all hurt, doubt and unabated fear
ever the hand of grace reaching near
beyond devastation and the din of despair
lies the answered call of light and faith's care
hold to a vision noble with unrelenting love
look to the vistas of beauty within and above
the call to truth, love, beauty and grace
be they within the chambers of heart to place.

I, A Woman

I, a Woman, I a P O E T

of expressive

                Passion,
Omnipresence,
Evolution,
                                        Truth…
within are the seeds that seek rootedness
the muse in all potentialities prevails.

Ever the birthing of a word,
ever the deliverance to behold,
cradled in the soul of BEING.
