He was selected to train Jackie Gleason in perfecting the 'Bank -Shot' scene in the motion picture, "The Hustler." A bank shot is when you hit the cue ball into an object ball, which then hits off a rail and goes into the pocket.
Yes, the Bank-Shot is metaphoric for the game of life we all are destined to play in our own way. The line in the clip... 'as if he is playing a violin' ... a skill set that calls to nuance bold, delicate, determined, focused, one move orchestrated to the next. And so too, the call of The Way, thought by thought, vision by vision, intent by intent, purpose by purpose.
And so this first born daughter learned to dance, to master foot work, to become the 'Double-Dutch' jump rope champion of West 100 Street in Manhattan, back in the day, to sharpen and maintain focus, instructed to 'play my cards right' and to learn how to win, how to lose, how to maintain a steady course no matter what comes your way.
Well DAD... we did it! I have been named A WOMAN OF DISTINCTION 2021, Honored by the State of New York, May 14, 2021 by Formal PROCLAMATION, initiated by Assemblyman Michael V. Lawler.
