clouds darken the morning sky
rain rain from up on high
garden, meadow, farm and field
with blessings of rain they to yield
wet and wondrous be its sounding grace
upon branch, bough, leaf, its blessings place.

New York City be the town
A Friday fair just before sundown
Buildings built sturdy and high
Hold to the light cast from the sky
The warming sun soon to set
Brilliant be the light for moments yet
A bit darkened the river waters be
Gentle their flow soon out to sea.

night thunder and torrential rain
warming winds do blow
the morning light now to rise
