Today in Tappan, New York the call of Spring is heard
In the warming sun and chirping song bird
Robins in flight and busy they be
Perched on barren branches of the towering tree
Blue jays in splendor with crest of blue
Herald this day of light and season new
Scampering squirrels by two in play run
Gathering, nesting, much to be done
Mounds of snow in a final melting away
Green be the beckoning call of Spring new this day.

Winter's Cloak

dressed in mounds of snow this day

white abounds in lavish array

winter's cloak in full delight

sparkle it does in noon day light.

A Night Festival ~ here in Tappan, New York

strong gusting winds and sounding sounding chimes
a calling night song
the full moon casts its majestic light
branch and bough in surrender sway
shadows dance upon the shimmering mounds of snow
a night festival dressed in winter's array.

An added word:

This full moon was known by early Native American tribes as the Full Snow Moon because the heaviest snows usually fell during this time of the year. Since hunting is difficult, this moon has also been known by some tribes as the Full Hunger Moon.
