She is a symbol of our responsibility...to ourselves and to this country! We so believe that freedom is free...freedom is a commitment! And Lady Liberty rises above the mist to light our way!

Theanne, Having lived through WWII the concept of 'commitment' to freedom was indeed learned. I remember taking such pride in my Civics classes because my Dad and Uncles, went away from home to assure that I would live with freedom. The Statue of Liberty, Our National Anthem, The Pledge of Allegiance, were held in reverent respect... each defined my growing understanding of what freedom meant in the United States.
