In Flanders Fields - Lest We Forget - Memorial Day, 2011.

Heroism is latent in every human soul - However humble or unknown, they (the veterans) have renounced what are accounted pleasures and cheerfully undertaken all the self-denials - privations, toils, dangers, sufferings, sicknesses, mutilations, life-long hurts and losses, death itself - for some great good, dimly seen but dearly held.
Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain
1828 – 1914

RoseMarie-
"In Flanders Field" is a poem my father always recited, one of the few he liked. He was a WWll vet, captured the last 7 days of the war, they were held in a barn. He put a beer opener on a nail outside the loft window. 30 years late my parents returned to Germany, the barn was now a restaurant. He went to the loft, the beer opener was still there. I have it here displayed in a glass case. Amazing huh? Happy Memorial Day to you my friend.
Love Gail
peace....

p.s. I will be rarely on my computer for a couple of weeks - we are doing over our bedroom in the theme of a 'tree house', :-) I will visit as I can until then. I am quite excited about our new look. :-)
