And the Mask ~ Carnival of Venice

And the Mask

Reveal, I hear this night command
Cloak not the quiver of shadow close at hand
Remove pretense and the mask donned to conceal
The TRUTH, the deep knowing, this while knowing real
Confront and resolve, the petition summons a call
Beyond all consideration, TRUTH to lay bear ALL
To the plea of this petition I to heed
And TRUTH, 'tis ever the rightful creed.

Some find the only way to survive is to wear a mask...some don't realize they're wearing a mask...some force others to wear a mask because they don't want to know (face) the TRUTH.

I like this poem...thank you for sharing,
I also enjoyed seeing the Venetian Masks and learning about the Carnival of Venice.

Theanne, the first 'masked ball' I attended as an adult was intriguing. It was the masked identity that became so very real. A most telling experience for sure. One wondered what was the motivation, the underlying message of the 'mask' and the costume so chosen. Was the choice meant to conceal or was it to reveal?

Thank you for being here!

Best always,
Rose Marie
