Whispers of the Tree

whispers of the tree
bough and branch now barren be
held within its trunk towering proud and mighty tall
rings of time, seasons of winter, spring, summer and fall
its inner calling plea in resounding whispers heard
be there the known light of the Creator's Word.

The rings of a tree, its beautiful grain, cycles of grandeur in festive splendor and light, resound with the whispers of memory and time. And so the inspiration for both word and image.

Throughout my home I have oak wood floors. They are not finished with anything artificial. They are stained with walnut oil and maintain their natural feel and texture. As I stand, as I step, as I kneel upon the floor ( always without shoes) in any one of the rooms in my home, I express my gratitude and joy for how humbled these trees are, providing their beauty of seasons and moons gone by. This image and these words have come from the reverence I live with my towering oak.
