A Bit of Mama's Pride

The apple rests in the palm of my hand
Here I hold the bounty of God's command
Quartered, peeled and cut in preparation
Applesauce to be the transformation
Maple syrup for that hearty sweet touch
Cinnamon stick, lemon juice not too much
Plumb raisins for added texture and flavor
Cook and stir, oh such aroma to savor
Applesauce made with love and set aside
Jars to hold delight and a bit of Mama's pride.

I love the aroma and the taste of what you wrote today!

Your mama, like mine, took pride in all the food she prepared, the preserves she produced. That was love in a jar to consume through the cold winter months. Lovely lines, Rose Marie. Your mama would be proud.

Mmmmmmm - sweet scents are wafting all the way up to Montreal. They arrive as steam from the apple cauldron and look: the steam spells your name!

Mark, A bit of cyberspace aromatherapy!

Rosaria, Apples sauce, tomatoes, roasted peppers, stewed pears, cranberries, were among the "canned" goodies I prepared with my mother over many a year. The joy of cooking is very much alive in my household. All three sons love to cook and have adopted many of our traditional 'goodies.'

Brian, and so I too look to have those "snippets" held in memory by each of my three sons.
