World Ocean Day

Oceans wide the earth so blessed
Land touched by your caress
Lakes and streams and rivers flow
Into your embrace ever they go
Cresting waves a resounding plea
Guard well, Guard well, waters of the sea.

On the wings of cyberspace I have been taken to new shores, to new depths of the sea, to creatures beautiful and mysterious, to that place within your heart that sings with the ocean winds, all this in celebration of
World Ocean Day.
Thank you Cris and all who ride these tides today.

They should create a post of Poet Laureate of the Sea and appoint you. If you never wrote another poem about the sea that one would justify your appointment. It ticks all the boxes for me.

Dear Dave,

Your words, and tides of appreciation brought to your shores. Thank you ever so much!

The final lines of the poem, personifying the Sea and asking her (dare I think this grand being is anything other than feminine?)to "guard well" are superb. I agree with Dave! In addition, the J.W. Turner is a beautiful accompaniment.

I was unaware of World Ocean Day; now, I must investigate that. Thanks for bringing awareness.

Guard well, Guard well - sort of says it all, doesn't it? Beautiful painting.

Thank you Cris and all who rode these tides today. And thank you for the moments you set your anchor here...

The beauty of your words, so thoughtful and thought felt, match the beauty of the sea. Thank you for sharing.

It's lovely Rose! Thank you for such a beautiful sentiment!

And I'm with Dave! Where do we have to go to nominate you poet laureate of the seas?! ;o)

It's funny, that you have posted a poem with this gorgeous Monet. And what a beautiful poem it is... My father has this picture downstairs in his apartment, which I framed for him. I tried to find your blog after you left a comment on mine, but the name of your blog didn't come up. I'm glad you left the address on Sarah's blog so I could find you. I have also written a poem of the sea today. It seems to be in the air...because I didn't know it was world ocean day until I just saw this on your blog. How amazing.

Elle, there must have been some temporary problem. I was able to connect after all and became thoroughly engaged in my visit - I posted in response.
